RelayRelay

2026Hackathon

Relay is a board of everything leaving your campus, built at PivotHacks 2026 - list what you're getting rid of or lending out, pick up, use, and return. It's that simple.

Background

Every term, campuses around the world throw out perfectly good rice cookers, desks, textbooks, air fryers...

while the person moving in next door buys all of it new.

The stuff exists. The timing is the problem: it's leaving on Tuesday and nobody knows it's there.

What it does

Relay is a board of what's leaving your campus, sorted by when it's gone. Post something with a deadline and a few pickup windows, claim what you need, show up.

Built at PivotHacks 2026.

The board

Everything is sorted by deadline, not by recency - so the thing about to hit a dumpster is the thing you see first. For sale, for rent, or free, filtered by category.

Your list

Create a personal item wishlist, new listings get matched against that list - notifying you the instant someone lists the water filter you want.

Matching runs on Snowflake Cortex - embedding and reranking happen inside the warehouse the listings already live in, instead of shipping everyone's stuff out to an LLM API.

Claiming

The part that usually kills these apps is the negotiation. Six messages to agree on a time, then one person ghosts.

So there's no messaging. The owner posts the windows they'll actually be around, you pick one, done.

Handoffs

Both sides confirm, and the post takes itself off your list.
